US invasion to Tabas
US invasion to Tabas was actually started from November 4, 1979, when Iranian Muslim students attacked the US embassy in Tehran and hold 53 Americans as hostages. As Carter`s administration failed to release the hostages diplomatically, a special unit of US army called "Delta Force” was missioned to free the hostages in a commando operation and return them to America.

Thus, US forces headed to Tabas from Persian Gulf, but after the establishment of these forces in Tabas desert and before moving to Tehran on April 25, they were caught in a sandstorm and failed to continue the operation.

However, "Miles Copeland” the former agents of the US Intelligence Service and one of those involved 1953 Iranian coup, believes that "the purpose of Tabas operation was not just releasing the hostages but the main goal was to overthrow the Iranian regime.
